A 10-Step Guide to Glowing Glass Skin

If you're reading this article, you've already heard about K-Beauty and want to learn more, or perhaps you're an expert checking if we've covered all the steps.

The purpose of this article is to help you understand the Korean 10-step beauty routine better. This routine offers a comprehensive approach to achieving healthy, radiant skin. We know it may seem complicated at first, and you might have some doubts, but we're here to break down each step with you and guide you to discover the secrets behind Korean cosmetics.

Step 1 & 2: Double Cleansing

Double cleansing is a fundamental step in this routine.  That means you start with an oil cleanser (Step 1) to dissolve makeup, sunscreen, and excess oil, and continue with a water-based cleanser (Step 2) to remove any remaining impurities and balance the skin's pH level.

Step 3: Exfoliation for Cell Renewal

Once your skin is cleansed, you are ready to go to exfoliation. This step helps you remove dead skin cells, revealing a brighter, smoother skin complexion. However, we would advise using a gentle exfoliator once or twice a week, depending on your skin needs and structure, and to increase sun protection when using chemical exfoliants.

Step 4: Toner

Korean toners are different from their Western counterparts ( which we typically call lotions). These hydrating toners remove residue, repair the skin barrier, and prep it for better product absorption. They are typically applied with a cotton pad or patted directly onto the skin.

Step 5: Essences

Hydration, protection, boost and some more hydration will bring you the essences. These lightweight, water-based treatments are packed with nourishing and anti-aging ingredients. They enhance hydration, protect the skin, and boost the effectiveness of subsequent products.

Step 6: Serums

Serums are here to provide you with targeted treatment. These concentrated products are formulated to address specific concerns like wrinkles, dark circles, or acne.

Step 7:  Masks

Let the Magic happen! Sheet masks are usually used a few times a week to deliver a concentrated dose of nutrients and moisture. Wash-off masks help with deep cleansing and exfoliation, while sleep masks offer overnight hydration.

Step 8: Eyes’ care: creams, serums or patches

The delicate eye area requires special attention. Eye creams and patches target concerns like puffiness, dark circles, and fine lines. Use eye cream daily, both morning and night, while eye patches can be used as needed.

Step 9: Moisturizer

Choose a moisturizer based on your skin type: lighter for daytime, heavier for nighttime. But please try to use it daily, and you skin will be grateful to you!

Step 10: Sun Protection

We consider ourselves easygoing and open-minded, but when it comes to sun protection, we have to be strict. Sunscreen is a non-negotiable part of your morning routine. Remember to reapply it throughout the day for complete coverage. Look for broad-spectrum sunscreens with both SPF (UVB protection) and PA (UVA protection). Choose between chemical or mineral sunscreens based on your skin's needs.

We would like to remind you that the 10-step routine is a guide, not a rigid rule, and it should be adapted to your specific needs. Find what works best for your skin, whether it's 3 steps or all 10. Experiment, explore, and enjoy the process of taking care of yourself! This article is just the beginning of your K-beauty adventure! Embrace your individuality, be kind to yourself, and the results will surely follow.

Remember: It's Your Journey! And we are here to help you make it cheery!

Cheerfully yours,
